COLLEEN KOSWIN (nee STAINES) Suddenly on Thursday, July 21, 2016 with her family by her side and in spirit, Colleen Koswin aged 78 years passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital in the I.C.U. Predeceased by her husband Nicholas of 61 years in August, 2015; grandson Garett; and brothers and sisters, Margaret Cameron, Martin Staines, Fred Staines and Grace Clara Shaw. Left to forever cherish Colleen's memory are her four children: Rick, Ken (Louise), Kim and Robin; grandchildren: Nolan, Tyler, Chelsey, Megan, Carly, Kirstyn, Nathan, Keenan, Morgan and Jocelyn; great-grandchildren: Mia, Orry, Ava and Ares. Also survived by brothers, William (Billy) Staines, and Arvid Olson (Arthur Staines); sister Mary (Mamie) Perry; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Colleen was born March 11, 1938 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Mom and Dad moved with their family to Winnipeg in 1962. They lived in the North End their entire lives where they raised their family. Mom's career was in the health care field with the exception of five years when she took time off to babysit her grandchildren. She returned to work continuing until her retirement in 2014. Family was very important to Mom, she loved each of us unconditionally. She was a great cook and was known for her world-renowned potato salad. She loved knitting, bingo and watching TV shows. The Tribal Trail Show and A.G.T. were her favourites. She had a wonderful bond with Snickers, the family pet, who was a great companion even taking daily naps together. Mom taught us that it's the small moments in life that matter most. Her greatest enjoyment in life was when the kids would come over for visits. Mom was the unifying factor of our family. In compliance with Colleen's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Sincere thanks to the Fire/Paramedic Responders and the 911 operator for their excellent care and support. A sincere appreciation is also extended to the staff at the I.C.U. at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion. Also thank you to Wojcik Funeral Chapel for their kindness shown to our family. Special thank you to our Auntie Vicky Koswin, you held a special place in Mom and Dad's heart.
