Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • To the family of Jim Laing. Dennis and I had the pleasure of knowing both Jim and Toots through our mutual interest in Duplicate Bridge. We are saddened to learn of Jim's passing. It was through Jim and Toots efforts and dedication that Creakers Friday Afternoon Bridge Club is flourishing and has maintained the high standards of sportsmanship, friendliness yet challenging game of bridge on Friday afternoons that were the founding principles of the bridge club when Toots and Jim started it so many years ago in St. James. It was he who named our Duplicate Bridge Club "Creakers - the Friendly Bridge Club" some 30 years ago. When I asked him why he called it "Creakers" he said it seemed to fit the members of the club (and still does). Whenever Dennis and I saw him in our travels in St. James he always greeted us with the warmth of his big smile and his firm caring handshake. He never ever forgot about his beloved "Creakers" Bridge Club in any conversation we had with him. Dennis and I will continue to hold our memories of our friend Jim as an unassuming, loyal, honest, kind gentle man who enjoyed a game of bridge on Friday afternoons with his friends. Sincerely, Dennis and Edna Lee. - Posted by: Dennis and Edna Lee (Friends and members of Creakers Bridge Club) on: Jul 30, 2016
