Our sincerest condolences are extended to Sonia's family on her recent passing. Sonia and I became friends after meeting at Carrick Days a decade ago, and discovering our ancestors were from that area... our roots were intertwined. We communicated frequently since then, often sharing inspirational and Ukrainian-related emails. Even with Sonia's declining health over the last year, I was looking forward to seeing her at Carrick Days, and surprising her with a DVD (of my tour of Ukraine). And I know she felt the same, cancelling her accommodation only days before, and still thinking she could come for the day. So with DVD in hand, my husband and I inquired and were very saddened to learn why she was not there... my tears flowed then, and my heart aches still. Sonia was a very special person to me. She handled the challenges that life gave her with great grace and dignity, all the while looking for ways to help and uplift others. Her faith was important, and she walked that talk... I admired her strength and perpetual optimism. I miss her, but am so grateful for the time we shared, however brief. Know that Sonia is held in deep regard, and cradled in warm memories. May your own special memories help to bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead. With our deepest sympathies.. Marilyn and Eric - Posted by: Marilyn Lylyk (Friend) on: Aug 18, 2016
