Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN ELSIE GAETZ Evelyn Elsie Gaetz passed away August 5, 2016 at the age of 82 years, very peacefully at Riverview Palliative. Evelyn is survived by her beloved son Russell Bruce; grandson Stewart and great-granddaughters Ava and Anna; sister Joan; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and families. She was predeceased by her husband Russell, her parents Fred and Mary Geske; and sisters Hilda, Olga and Lydia. Graveside for Family and Friends will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB. We wish to thank Pastor Don Engel, Dr. Van Rensburg, all doctors, nurses and staff at Riverview. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverview Palliative Care Fund in Evelyn's memory, C/O Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 2P4. Evelyn you were a lifelong friend to my family. You were my dad's secretary at the University of Manitoba. When you retired you remained a loving friend to the Catchpoles. How we loved visiting your mom with you and hearing her stories. You remembered every birthday and remained the epitome of courage and grace. Now you are pain free forever in out hearts. You were a survivor Evelyn. After becoming a young widow, you learned to drive, and went to work to help support your son, and yourself. You battled cancer several times, before the last one, which eventually took your life. i admired that you never forgot your loved ones that had passed, even if it meant going to Emerson every summer.
