ADAM CRAIG HREHIRCHUK May 13, 1994 - August 4, 2016 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Adam Craig Hrehirchuk, age 22 years. Adam was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Selma Carruthers, and by his stepbrother, Brian Ribbers. Left to cherish his memory are his four parents, Randy and Juana and Selma and Henry, older brother Blake, stepsister Christine (James), nephew, Kayden, grandparents Aileen and Larry Hrehirchuk, a very special great-aunt, Verna Boakes, step-grandparents Gail and David Baldwin and Jan and Greg Paseska, step-great-grandparents Flo and Eddy Pastuch. Also left to mourn are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins: Glennis and Eric Wittenberg (Kendall, Jayden), Fred and Leslie Hrehirchuk (Jenna, Nick), Karen and Joe Dutra (Matt, Tyler), Jason and Taryn Paseska (Maxwell), Kathy Paseska, Ashley Paseska, Sean and Lori Baldwin (Brendan, Jeremy, Kay-lyn), the entire Ribbers Family, and many other relatives and friends, too numerous to name. Adam was born in Grace General Hospital on May 13, 1994, a little brother for Blake. He was a quiet and content little guy, but at the time of his birth had day and night completely mixed up, preferring to sleep all day and be wide awake all night - a habit that returned during Adam's teenage years. Adam grew up in St. James, attending Ecole Robert Browning, Lincoln Middle School and in 2012, graduating from Westwood Collegiate. After graduation Adam expanded his repertoire of skills, trying his hand in several areas of work, trying to find where his true interest lay. At the time of his death he had just moved to Brockville, Ontario, eager to begin his new job. He was excited, happy and full of hope for the future. Adam enjoyed many recreational activities - soccer, basketball, even trying his hand at competitive swimming. However, following in his dad's and Grandpa Hrehirchuk's footsteps, his greatest passion was hockey. He joined his first team at age seven, and played league hockey right up to grade 12. Although never the "superstar" he always dug deep and played with heart. Adam was both pleased and proud when his dad got officially involved, and coached Adam's team for a number of years. Adam also learned to golf, and could hold his own with most of his competitors. Adam enjoyed a game of golf with his dad the day before he left for Brockville. He couldn't wait to tell everyone he had beaten his dad by one stroke. From a very young age Adam loved the outdoors, spending many weekends and summers camping with Dad and Juana, at Twin Beach with Mom, Grandpa and Blake, and later at Lac du Bonnet with Mom and Henry. Adam had recently re-discovered "Lake Life"; we are so blessed to have had him with us at the lake several times this summer. Adam had an easy way about him; he had the gift of conversation and humour. He was able to strike up a meaningful conversation with just about anyone, young or old. He was comfortable with groups of people, and is well-known for his often "off-the-wall" sense of humour. There is no doubt he will be missed by many. There are simply no words to express the sadness we feel at losing Adam - our son, brother, grandson, nephew....our friend. A celebration of life will be held in Adam's honour 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2016, Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, reception to follow at the same location. The family wishes to thank Derek Glegg, a long-time friend of Adam's, for his help with planning. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations can be made to TJ's Gift (38 Hawkins Crescent, Winnipeg, MB R2N 1G9). • There are no words to express the profound sadness and grief you must be feeling!! We were shocked & horrified when we heard the news of Adam's tragic passing. Our heart is truly breaking for you and your family. Such an untimely loss of a wonderful young man!! We didn't have the pleasure of knowing Adam in his older years, but I do remember holding him at Randy & Selma's house all night long when he was about 4 months old!! I remember teasing Selma that I was going to kidnap him and take him home with me because he was so adorable! He was such a beautiful, sweet little baby who would melt anyones heart!! Adam has left this earth in the physical sense, but he will forever be in your hearts and a part of your soul.. His beautiful spirit will always be close watching over the people he loves!! Our deepest, heartfelt condolences to Selma & Randy and your families as you begin to try to find a way to start to heal from this horrific loss.. Our thoughts & prayers are being sent to you.. Love & hugs.. Cathy Sanders & Bruce Carriere - Posted by: Cathy Sanders (Friend of Selma & Randy's from many years ago! ) on: Aug 12, 2016

  • I live nearby where Adam used to live, we played soccer with the Assiniboia Wildcats as kids.. and he made a great teammate. Later on in the high school years we connected again and hung out a few times at the bar. Although we never really were consistent friends, Adam's smile, humour and overall friendly nature have left a lasting effect on what I look for when I say, good people. Rest easy, Adam. You will be missed. Condolences to the family, and friends. Kent - Posted by: Kent (childhood friend) on: Aug 12, 2016

  • No words can be said in the disbelief and sorrow in the untimely passing of Adam. As friends and neighbours of Randy and Juana we had the privilege of watching Adam and Blake grow up since 2000 . We remember Adam skateboarding up and down the street and watching Randy and Juana pack up the vehicle for those "oh " so early sat hockey games . It was Adam who taught our daughter the saying "what's up dog" and I remember bantering over the fence in " skater lingo " with Adam in earlier days . Adams life was just beginning and was taken way to soon , somewhere out there they ve gained a " real cool dude ". . To the families of Randy and Juana our most sincere and utmost condolences RIP.
