I remember our first phone call... it was me asking to be put on to the open for a hip hop concert in Saskatoon and that is where it began.. 4 1/2 years of working with him... him as my roommate... in Saskatoon... me as his in Regina... really helping to raise the bar... we parted ways only because of life changes... but always kept in touch to appreciate each others successes... I got the call an hour after his passing... and that was hard...above all else he had his heart in the right place for helping artists raise the bar... and challenge ourselves to become better at what we did. Thousands of photos, fans and lots of great memories are what he left for me to always keep close and for that I'm grateful!! RIP - Posted by: Garland aka Spyder G (colleague) on: Aug 14, 2016

Devante, or as we all know him affectionately, DJ Fresh. He was not just one of the best all time DJs, or incredible promoter and performer, he was also our dear friend. Over the last 16 years we here at Gabbo's have shared many good times and we got to know each other very well. I can proudly say Devante was not just my business associate he was also my dear friend. He and I shared many laughs and had great times always, we even shed a few tears crying on each others shoulders. I will miss him terribly, we all will. He was loved and admired, and for good reason. I'm sure he's up there know putting Heaven in a dancing groove. Rest in peace my friend, I will think of you often. I lost contact with Lawerance when I moved to BC. We dated when he was starting out as a D J.. He always had so much talent and truly loved what he did even back then.. He will be missed by all. I only wished that I could have got in contact with him sooner. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.. Brenda. - Posted by: Brenda Parish (short) (Old friend from Winnipeg) on: Aug 11, 2016

I had the extreme honor of attending KE with him. He was truly a kind soul and would stop in the halls and sit and talk to anyone and everyone. On many occasions we'd discuss life and our paths that lay before us. He was my shoulder to lean on several times and I will always cherish our talks. I am honored to have had him in my life during one of my most challenging times. This world has lost a great person. - Posted by: Tannis (School friend) on: Aug 11, 2016

I was Lawrence's basketball coach at Valley Gardens, back in the day, as they say. I was blessed to have coached him. He was quite the athlete. He lived a life to short. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Mervin S. (Former Coach) on: Aug 10, 2016

Lawrence and I grew up together back in the KE/Valley Gardens days. He was a great friend; we went to school together, we played ball together, we partied together, he DJ'd at my wedding social... As the years passed, we all went our separate ways but the memories we shared growing up in EK will always remain... Yeah Boooy! We will forever miss you DJ Fresh, may you rest in eternal peace. On behalf of the Fletcher family, please accept our deepest sympathy and condolences... - Posted by: Steve F (Friend) on: Aug 10, 2016
