Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGABRIELLE THERESE CARRIERE (nee FONTAINE) Mrs. Gabrielle Carrière of Heritage Life Care Home, passed away on August 10, 2016 at the age of 91. Born to parents Adèle and Stanislas Fontaine on June 20, 1925 in Ste. Agathe Manitoba, she grew up third in a family of nine children: Marguerite, Joseph-Marie, Laurence, Gérard, Roland, (all deceased) and is survived by Jean-Charles, Marcelle and Murielle. After finishing high school in Ste Agathe, Gabrielle became a teacher in her community. In 1944, she met a handsome young soldier at a church event, which marked the onset of a lifelong partnership as a wife, mother and confidant. Gabrielle married Paul Emile Carrière and is survived by her children: Robert (Odile), Gilles (Deborah), Mariette, René (Madeleine), Alain (Maxine) and Henri (Karyn). She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Gaby was predeceased by her husband Paul August 23, 2011 and her son Laurent in December, 1975. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on August 19 at the St. Boniface Cathederal. Gaby's quiet, un-assuming nature was balanced by her intelligence and generosity. Her strong religious conviction gave her strength to endure the last stages of her debilitating disease. Gaby, what a great Maman you were, we all love you. We are indebted to Bob, Mariette and Al for just "being there" and the loving care given by the staff at the Niverville Heritage Life Care Home to the end of her life. I truly enjoyed the times I was able to do Gabrielle's hair, first when she was in the manor and then later in the PCH. I truly enjoyed her matter of fact responses quiet but whitty nature. I'm a HCA at the home where Gabrielle resided. I enjoyed all the conversations we had together talking about family, cooking, the weather. I would not forget how many times Gabrielle would hold my hand and say "you are a nice lady and I thank you for your help" I will miss her very much.
