LAWRENCE MICHAEL GANS
Date of Passing: Aug 06, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE MICHAEL GANS With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father on Saturday, August 6, 2016. Lorry was born in 1927. He met Norma in high school and escorted her to their graduation. On August 11 they would have shared 65 years always together. They were blessed with a son Keith, his wife Lucille and grandchildren Breanna and Trent. Lorry tried his hand at raising pigeons, chickens, rabbits and fish. Finding his yard a little small we moved to a lot along the river. He landscaped the grounds and grew numerous flowers, winning many awards. Lorry was a long standing member and President of the West Kildonan Horticultural Society and a director of the Manitoba Horticultural Society. He travelled across Manitoba judging Home grounds. He worked for the City of Winnipeg as an electrical inspector. Predeceased by his parents, sisters Helen, Ruth, Eva, Lil and Esther, brother Albert and spouses, mother-in-law Mary Smith and brother-in-law Kenneth Smith. Remaining are sister-in-law Sophie Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a kind and a gentle man. Till we meet again. A private graveside service has taken place at Glen Eden Cemetery. I am pretty certain that Lawrence was my father's cousin. My father passed away many years ago in NYC. My father's parents were John and Victoria Gans, also of NYC. Our Canadian and US family has not been in contact in many years. If you wish to connect my phone # is 954-260-5197. Email is jeg614@ymail.com. My condolences on Lawrence's death. - Posted by: JOHN GANS (Son of Ernest Gans - NYC USA ) on: Oct 05, 2016

The Uncle Lorry I remember is the Uncle Lorry in the picture. Easy going, nice smile, soft spoken. As a child, my parents took me to visit at his house along the river. I could not believe my eyes. Gardening became a life long passion for me from that moment. Fifty years later, I still say to my wife and Mom, I wish my Uncle Lorry could be here to see what I've done. I built a hummingbird habitat, with my Uncle Lorry looking over my shoulder, in spirit, every step of the way. Good thing the water here is not metered. It's on right now as a matter of fact. I always looked up to him. He kept me grounded. I was proud to have his blood. I admired my Uncle Lorry, and his Dad, my Grandpa Gans too. Good, hard working, solid people who set an example I try to live up to. In their memory, and in their honor, I try my best to do the same. Love you, Uncle Lorry. In my heart and mind, you live on with me forever. - Posted by: Bruce Thomson (Nephew) on: Aug 22, 2016
