EVELYN NYS (nee PALING) On August 8, 2016 our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Evelyn, passed away peacefully at Concordia Place Personal Care Home at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Helene and Albert Paling; husband George; and her siblings, Ruth Ezinicki (John), Fred and Bert Paling. Evelyn will be sadly missed by daughters, Dorothy Nys and Marlene Walichnowski (Andy); grandchildren, Alycia, James and Michael; brother James Paling and many nieces and nephews and friends. Evelyn was born in Transcona, Manitoba on January 30, 1927. She worked at Standard Broom where she met George and they were married on May 28, 1949. They lived in St. Boniface for several years then returned to Transcona to raise their family. Evelyn loved animals, enjoyed music, playing cards and travelling with her friends and family. She was a wonderful cook and her Christmas dinners will be greatly missed. In compliance with Evelyn's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. My mother passed away not too long after Evelyn, She often asked about her. Evelyn, George, Bernice and Gordon were family with countless memories and trips. My grandparents as well had a lot of good times with them. When my mother could no longer travel she phoned. Evelyn wore the biggest smile. She loved to enjoy life and had a lot of energy. She danced at my wedding. She was always young at heart. Thank you Evelyn and George for giving so much joy to my parents. They had some great times and memories and you were great friends to them. - Posted by: Kimberly Close (Vince and Clarice Hayes Daughter) on: May 22, 2018
