ROBERT LEON MONNIER Surrounded by his loving family, we sadly announce the passing of Robert Monnier on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Robert passed away unexpectedly at the age of 83 years. Robert leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Dorothy, of 61 years; five daughters Leona (Roland), Fern (Rob), Kim (Ray), Audrey (Daryl), and Michele (Casey); six grandchildren Nicole (Jason), Angèle, Brody (Breena), Rachel, Nick, and Julian; two great-grandchildren Rylan and Thea; Aunt Rachel, Derrick (Bev), Natalie (Darren), and numerous cousins. Robert was predeceased by his father Léon Weber-Monnier in 1934, stepfather Gilbert Claeys, mother Denise Claeys, infant sister, and grandson Bradly. Robert was born and raised in St. Boniface and loved spending time on the farm in St. Pierre-Jolys. Our hard working husband and father worked 25 years at the Holy Ghost Cemetery and 21 years at the family business, Riverside Memorials Limited. Robert loved spending time with his family, enjoyed going to the cottage, fishing and singing to the loves of his life. He especially loved sharing his passion of history and passing wonderful stories onto his family. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. Private Family Interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery. According to Robert's wishes, pallbearers will be his grandchildren Nicole (and Jason), Angèle, Brody, Rachel, Nick, and Julian.
