Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRALPH GERHARD STANLEY PRIER On Saturday, August 13, Ralph Prier passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He is survived by his son Manfred (Christiane), grandson Werner and cousin Hedwig and other relatives in Germany. Ralph was predeceased by his wife of 45 years Paula. He was born in Winnipeg on January 15, 1937 to Polish immigrants. Ralph went to school at Daniel McIntyre before becoming a high school teacher at R.B. Russell School. When he retired, he did maintenance at a few smaller multi-family homes. He loved being a handyman and fixing things. He played high school football for the Daniel McIntyre Maroons. He loved travelling in his later years, especially to Mexico. Ralph was a gentle person who liked getting together with his several friends for a meal or a coffee. Five years ago, Ralph had a heart bypass surgery to put in a pacemaker and replace his heart valves after a mild stroke. Since then he signed up for the gym first at the Reh-Fit center and then at Wellness Institute. Three weeks ago, he was still going and did about two hours of exercise. He went once more after that, but this time he wasn't well enough to exercise so he just came to visit his family who were exercising there. Since then, his health deteriorated quickly. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Grace and St. Boniface Hospitals for all your tender, loving care over the last two weeks. Interment has taken place. There will be a gathering for family and friends at a time and place to be determined. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Prier foundation at St. Boniface Hospital or Heart and Stroke Foundation. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
