MAURICE JOSEPH BRUNEAU September 21, 1924 - August 16, 2016 On Tuesday, August 16th, Maurice passed away peacefully at the Pinawa Hospital with his loving wife and four daughters encircled around his bedside. Maurice was the third child of six siblings, born to Emile and Flora Bruneau. He is survived by his brother Treffle, and many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Maurice met the love of his life Lucie Dube and they married on October 5, 1949. This coming fall Maurice and Lucie would have celebrated 67 years of marriage. They had four lovely daughters, Diane, Rachel (Les), Linda (Bill) and Louise (Gord). The family grew again with the addition of seven grandchildren; Kerri, Jonathan, Marla, Amber, Lee, Mackenzie, D-Jay and their spouses. The family continues to grow with nine, soon to be 10 great-grandchildren; Ethan, Ella, Jack, Kate, Sydney, Sawyer, Reese, Hailey and Olivia. Maurice was a dedicated, hardworking man at work and at home. He worked for Manitoba Hydro for almost 30 years in Great Falls and took pride in his work until his retirement in 1984. In his younger days he enjoyed socializing with family and friends and could be heard singing the chorus of "Everybody Loves Somebody". Maurice loved to be outdoors, tending to his lawn and gardens. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling and curling in Great Falls. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and three-wheeling and took pride in his many sparkling new vehicles. In his later years Maurice enjoyed going out for afternoon coffee with Lucie and friends at the local coffee shop and loved to sit on his deck at home and watch the people going by. Maurice was a family man who was very proud and deeply loved his wife and daughters. He was our protector and we always knew we could count on him for his love and support no matter how old we got. The family would like to thank Lisa Kroeker for her special at-home medical visits; Dr. Bruneau for his care and kindness; the Palliative and Home Care teams for their daily visits - you are all so caring and considerate - Dad really liked you ladies. Also thank you to the Pinawa Hospital nursing staff for all they have done for Dad during his final days. Special thanks to Father James and Henrietta for the spiritual visits and to all who lent a helping hand, visited or asked how Dad was doing, we thank you. As per Maurice's wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church, Lac du Bonnet with Father James officiating. A light lunch will be served afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maurice are greatly received to a charity of ones' choice or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Rest in Peace Dad, We will take care of Mom, We love you!
