LORRAINE KEATS Peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2016 with family at her side, Lorraine passed away at the age of 63 years after a brief hospital stay with many complications. Left to mourn Lorraine's passing are her sisters, Linda and Shelley; niece Megan and her husband John and their children, Jake, Will and Silvie; nephew Scott; uncle Murray Parsons; aunts, Mary Harkness and Evelyn Keats; as well as many cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Marjorie and Norman Keats. Born on February 6, 1953 in Dauphin, Manitoba, Lorraine was the middle daughter to Norman and Marjorie Keats. Attending school in Dauphin, Lorraine graduated from high school in 1971. Soon afterward she was employed with the Manitoba Government, later transferring to Winnipeg. She retired in 2013 after a 42 year career as a civil servant. Lorraine's home was always open to friends and relatives at any time; this was proof of her kind-heartedness and generosity to everyone. She enjoyed a close circle of friends with whom she enjoyed spending time. She was also content spending quiet time alone and playing cards with others. Family was important to Lorraine. She loved her sisters dearly and her nieces and nephews brought her great joy. Lorraine was loyal and kind, good-hearted, valued her friends, went with the flow, seldom complained, and had a sense of humour which she maintained to the end. On Tuesday, August 16, 2016 Lorraine's Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations in Lorraine's honour can be made to the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society, 204 - 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1M5 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9.
