VICTORIA SUROWICH In the Arms of an Angel In the early hours of August 13, 2016 Victoria Surowich, aged 83 years, wife of Casmir, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Selkirk and District Hospital. A gentle, caring individual who will be greatly missed by her husband; sons, Stan (Joyce) and John (Carol); grandchildren, Kevin (Christa), Jennifer (Dan), Neil (Dawn), Mark (Lindsay) and Ryan, as well as five great-grandchildren. In 65 years of marriage she became a strong matriarchal presence who led by example and loved her family unconditionally. Her love of others extended to her work as a highly respected health care aide for over 20 years. She gained much satisfaction in her career and was proud of her ability to comfort those in their senior years. Mom had an active retirement, helping her children when she could, travelling with Casmir, gardening, crafts, baking, and cooking great meals for the family get togethers. Above all she loved to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as much as they loved to be with Granny. The family would like to thank the health care aides from Selkirk Home Care who helped her maintain her independence at home up to a week before her passing. She looked forward to their visits and cared so much for them. Cremation has taken place and according to her wishes a private family interment is planned.
