My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. My parents were one of the first to meet your Mother when she arrived from England. She was walking from the train station at Fleming, SK. to Elkhorn along the old No. 1 Hwy with her belongings when my parents stopped and gave her a ride into Elkhorn. Irene was a hardworking and modest woman. She was fiercely independent but showed gratitude and appreciation for the care she received from others, especially when it was in the form of fried chicken, or a nice visit over a cup of tea and a game of Scrabble, which she would undoubtedly win. Irene felt she had a responsibility to help others, and she did so in her quiet way without seeking recognition or accolades.
