CATHLENE MAY LUPAL
Born: Apr 15, 1926
Date of Passing: Aug 23, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHLENE MAY LUPAL (nee CAMERON) Born on the homestead (Sec. 8 21-24) Rossburn Municipality, on April 15, 1926. Died in Arborg, Manitoba on August 23, 2016. She was the last surviving of nine adult siblings, Helen, Doris, Lorrain, Thelma, Art, Ken, Charles, Hector from an original 18 children. She was predeceased by her father David (1968), mother Florence, and her husband Wally (2004). She is survived by two sons Greg (Valerie) and Robert, three grandchildren, Perry, Daena, and Dustin, and one great-grandchild William. May attended Ekford School until grade 8 and left for Winnipeg at age 15 by train ($12.50 ticket) to make her fortune. She stayed originally at her Aunt Jenny's place. May worked as a maid for the Oretski Family, Christie's Biscuits, a drugstore, CNR restaurant and at the Bay china department before marrying Wally Lupal in 1946. She thought Wally was the one (smart, strong) and did not have a boyfriend before him. She was a devoted mother even though her mother deserted the kids when the girls were young. Helen and May acting as surrogate mothers. She seldom had a bad word to say and was always willing to give a helping hand. She saw the best in people for the most part and was a loyal friend. Mom made trips to Jamaica, Hawaii, Eastern Europe, British Isles and Australia. Mom and Dad wintered in San Antonio, Texas for several years and also golfed in Myrtle Beach, SC. She fished, bowled, liked to play cards, and liked to eat wild duck. Even if she was not feeling well, if I mentioned wild duck, she dragged herself over! Mom's house was a refuge for Greg and Valerie as they dealt with Perry's medical situation. Mom was a refuge to Perry and an angel to all her grandchildren. She moved to Arborg (Sunrise Lodge) in 2013 and her home was currently at the Assisted Living Complex in Arborg. She liked to play crib, bridge, VLT's, country music, dancing and family get-togethers, especially with her sisters. Many thanks to all her caregivers, especially to those who made her comfortable in her five day stay at the Arborg Hospital; and to Dr. Majid Zahiri for his guidance and care. Wishing her wellness and happiness on her journey. She will be missed. A job well done. According to her wishes she will be cremated with no funeral service. A come and go lunch will be served at the Arborg Legion, 306 Main Street, Arborg from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10 to honour her life. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
