CECILIA VICTORIA ALLEN (nee BARKER) May 24, 1919 - August 20, 2016 Peacefully, at the Gimli Betel Home with family at her side, Cec passed away on Saturday evening, August 20, 2016 at the age of 97 years. Cec was predeceased by her husband George in 2008. She is survived by her daughter Diane (Harry); sons, Stan (Sandra), Ernie (Marilyn) and Terry (Irene). Also survived by her brother Bill (Vi). She leaves behind eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mom was born in Fort Garry where she played hockey and baseball in her youth, winning a Provincial Softball Championship with the CUAC BLUES. Upon marrying George she made her home in West Kildonan. Mom and Dad loved to dance and were lifetime members of West Kildonan and Gimli Legions. Cec and George spent their retirement years in Sandy Hook and wintered in Hawaii. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family gathering at a later date. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Gimli Betel Home for the many years of compassionate care they gave Mom.
