Walter was predeceased by parents, Antoni and Aniela. He is survived by daughter Wilma; four grandchildren, Georgina, Jason, Delphine and Janet; and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen, Nellie and Antonia; five nephews and five nieces, and their families. I met my grandfather Walter, once, over the phone, not long after my mother and he found each other. As he was telling me about some of the places that he travelled, I remember thinking to myself, " This grandfather of mine sure doesn't sound like someone in their eighties". Anyway, his advice to me was to travel somewhere at least once before I get old. I figured that there was a good chance that he may pass away before we got to meet face to face. I would have enjoyed sitting down with him and listening to some of his life experiences. I'm sure glad that my mother and he got to meet before it was too late.
