KAY USHOCK 1920 - 2016 Katherine (Kay) Sack passed away peacefully on July 26, 2016 at Dufferin Place Care Home in Nanaimo, B.C. at the age of 96. Kay was predeceased by her husband Harry Ushock in 2002 after 57 years of marriage. Kay was also predeceased by her brother Mike and sisters, Laura, Mary, Grace, Helen, and Rose. Kay will be fondly remembered by her son Ron (Gail) and granddaughter Lauren and her son Don (Susan), grandson Kyle (Chelsea), granddaughter Liane (Dale) and her great-grandson Blake. The arrival of her great-grandson brought such joy to her heart. Kay was born on January 19, 1920 in Newdale, Manitoba where she lived with her mom (Lena), father (Ignatius) and siblings on the family farm. She moved to Winnipeg and married Harry on October 19, 1944, where they settled in a home in Winnipeg's north end and raised their family. Kay worked in the service industry for catering companies throughout her working career. In her later years, Kay moved from Winnipeg to live with her son and family in Nanaimo. Her family and grandchildren will miss her delicious Ukrainian meals that she prepared well into her 90s and her guidance in making the traditional foods. A special thank you is extended to the warm, welcoming and caring staff at Dufferin Place for their care and compassion for Kay in her last few days. A memorial service will be held in Winnipeg at a later date. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
