GORDON ANGUS EWEN August 22, 1945 - August 30, 2016 It is with sadness that we share the passing of Gordon Angus Ewen at his home in St. Vital. Gordon is survived by his wife of 49 years Elaine: daughters Cheryl (Gary) and Darlene (Kevin); his grandchildren Jonah and Grace; sisters Dorothy, Gladys (Lorne), Margaret and Jean, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents James and Lily Ewen; brothers Chester, Charles and Frederick and other extended family. After marrying Elaine in the fall of 1966, they set out on a life that led them to live in many parts of Western Canada. Starting out in Winnipeg, moving to Brandon, Vancouver, Calgary and finally settling back in Winnipeg in 1974. Gordon spent his vacation and weekends in the "Do It Yourself (DIY) world", when DIY had fewer options than we have now. He was always helping family and friends with home improvements that are still enjoyed today. Summer vacations were spent travelling, visiting and spending time with extended family located in Manitoba and Saskatchewan - in a tent and later upgraded to a travel trailer - enjoying many campgrounds throughout the west. In later years road trips to Las Vegas and Mexico brought learning to enjoy bingo and the casino. A trip to Eastern Canada brought many wonderful sights and memories. Gordon enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, working with his hands and sometimes just trying to figure out how to take things apart and putting them back together. Yet another adventure. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson " In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Interment will take place at St. Vital Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
