ARLENE KOTYK (nee ANTIFAIFF) Arlene was suddenly called to God while at home, on August 25, 2016. Arlene was born in Kamsack, SK on October 18, 1946 and grew up in Winnipeg, MB. She started work at the Metropolitan Theatre in Winnipeg, where she met her husband Kenneth. From there she became a keypunch operator at Bristol Aerospace. She and Ken moved to Toronto at the beginning of his career, and while there gave birth to their son Kristopher. Shortly after they moved back to Winnipeg. Arlene was a frequent volunteer at the local schools, and once Kris was older she began a wonderful career as a Floral Designer. She had an amazing gift for arranging and an incredible eye for colours. She enjoyed 5-pin bowling, watching curling, was a fabulous cook, and she was always up for hosting dinners with family and friends. Once retired, she and Ken often travelled to various locations throughout the world, including with friends and family. Cruising was her favourite, including seeing the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. Later in life, she was afflicted with some health issues but she always fought them with zeal. Diagnosed with breast cancer, she fought hard and became a long time survivor. Now she has been reunited with her mother Mary, father Alec, and brother Harvey in heaven, where she can watch over Ken and Kris, her sister Eleanor (Stan), Harvey's widow Diane, brother-in-law Larry, sister-in-law Gloria, parents-in-law, Kay and Lloyd, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She will be forever loved and missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Breast Cancer Foundation. In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and then be set free in a small ceremony with immediate family and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
