DAVID JAMES COLE
Born: Feb 24, 1935
Date of Passing: Aug 29, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID JAMES COLE We are sad to announce the passing of an amazing man, David James Cole on Monday, August 29, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Dad passed comfortably at home. During his last few days with us, he was surrounded by family and love, just as he lived. Left to deeply miss Dad are his loving and devoted wife, Jeanette; sister, Margaret Christopher; children, David, Jane (Saad), Stuart (Aneta) and Jamie (Kristy); along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On February, 24, 1935, Dad was born in Netley Abbey, Hampshire, England. In 1967, Dad moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in search of a new and promising life with his loving wife and family. Over Dad's life he had many careers, ultimately retiring from Stony Mountain Penitentiary, 21 years ago. In his time with us, Dad had several joys, such as competition shooting, where he proved to be a Master Marksmen year after year. He loved music, movies, boxing, golf, seafood, new and old friends and his family the most. Respectfully, and in compliance with Dad's wishes no formal Funeral Service will be held. Instead we will celebrate his life with a private family gathering. Although he is no longer with us, he will live forever in our hearts and memories and is now surrounded by his family and friends who have passed before him. I know this is really late but I had lost contact with your parents after I left Winnipeg and SMI to transfer to Kent Inst. in BC. I knew your father as a fine Officer and competitive shooter. He got me started in the combat shooting circuit and together we attended many competitions and had great times doing this. I am so sorry for your family's loss. Dave was a grand gentleman. - Posted by: david blue (friend) on: Dec 20, 2020

So sorry to hear of your dad's passing, Jane and family. I have such great memories of our friendship, and the big part our parents played. They were always there for all of us, and are a big part of my memories of growing up and hanging out in good old Valley Gardens. Big hugs to you and your brothers, and a special one for your mom. I know how much you all miss him. - Posted by: Colleen (Friend) on: Sep 08, 2016

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He was a pleasure to work with. He was lively and had a great sense of humour, something much needed when working at Stony. I especially enjoyed his golfing retirement stories !! My condolences to his family !! - Posted by: Susan Schmidt (Tremblay) (co-worker at SMI) on: Sep 08, 2016

My sincere condolences on Daves passing. He was a good person to work with and had a lively sense of humour. We shared some memories of B.M.H. in Iserlohn and surrounding area though he served there, just before I was posted to Germany. I'm sure he will be missed. - Posted by: Ross (Soupie) Campbell (Fellow worker at Stony Mt. ) on: Sep 03, 2016
