• Laurie was an amazing nurse. I always got excited to see her sit at the nurses desk when I arrived and we would chat for a few mins. She was so good to my grandma, one time my grandma had the flu and wouldn't stay in bed for me, I called Laurie and she came to the room and very patiently explained to my grandma she had to rest in bed and she stayed. • Laurie was the first classmate I met when taking my nurse's training at St. Boniface, who soon became a very good friend. When I think of Laurie I think of her smile and giggle, she was always positive, kind and fun to be with. Laurie truly was a wonderful person who meant so much to so many. • My parents were at Tuxedo Villa for a few years. Laurie took such good care of them both, especially my Dad. He had an insatiable sweet tooth and Laurie always made sure he had several treats daily, she was definitely a bright spark in his day. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to her family. • Heartfelt condolences to Laurie's family . Laurie took care of both my mom and dad during three long years at Tuxedo Villa. Her care, compassion, love and expert nursing skills really enhanced the quality of life for my parents. Typically kind and beyond considerate, she would bring my dad his favourite Costco cinnamon buns when she was on duty. She was truly an angel and for that my family and I are truly grateful. • We wish we knew why this lovely ray of sunshine was taken from us too soon. There is repetition in all of these tributes: a warm and loving woman, who always gave from her heart. I am so sorry I am far away and not able to attend the service for Laurie. At the Paralympics, a theme is The Heart Beats as One... • I met Laurie through the many activities in our neighborhood which included festivals, Boy Scouts as well as the elementary school lunch program.
