LAURIE TOOTH October 1, 1960 - September 6, 2016 Suddenly on September 6, 2016 Laurie was taken away from her loving family. Left to mourn is Les, her loving husband of 35 years; sons, Michael, Robert and daughter Elizabeth. Her sisters, Cindy Cummings and Shawna Morocco (Dan) of Toronto; sister and brother-in-law Lorraine and Marvin Endler, brother-in-law Dave Tooth, and brother-in-law Rob Wade and Margo McLaren and very special friends, Wendy and Robert Borody and numerous nieces and nephews. Laurie was predeceased by her mother Patricia (1982) and father John (2014) Laurie was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her family moved to numerous cities following her dad's military career. She attended school in Clinton, Strathroy and London in Ontario, Shilo, Manitoba and two years in Kenya. After moving to Winnipeg in 1979, Laurie was introduced to Les Tooth on a blind date. After Laurie finished nursing school at St. Boniface Hospital, they were married on November 14, 1981. She worked at the Grace Hospital for 12 years and then at Tuxedo Villa for the last 23 years. Laurie always had a smile and found the good in people. She volunteered for numerous neighborhood activities including lunch program at the elementary school, helper at local festivals, Beaver Lodge leader and, of course, soccer mom. Laurie's most cherished joy was watching her three beloved children grow to young adults. She was very proud of them and loved them with all her heart. Best Mom ever. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Cancer Care Manitoba in her memory. Laurie will be sadly missed by all those she touched. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

  • Laurie was an amazing nurse. I always got excited to see her sit at the nurses desk when I arrived and we would chat for a few mins. She was so good to my grandma, one time my grandma had the flu and wouldn't stay in bed for me, I called Laurie and she came to the room and very patiently explained to my grandma she had to rest in bed and she stayed. Thanks Laurie for all your help and being you. You were taken away too soon and always be missed - Posted by: Meghan (Resident family member) on: Sep 12, 2016

  • My parents were at Tuxedo Villa for a few years. Laurie took such good care of them both, especially my Dad. He had an insatiable sweet tooth and Laurie always made sure he had several treats daily, she was definitely a bright spark in his day. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to her family. May you find strength in this time of sorrow. - Posted by: Tara MacFarlane () on: Sep 11, 2016

  • Heartfelt condolences to Laurie's family . Laurie took care of both my mom and dad during three long years at Tuxedo Villa. Her care, compassion, love and expert nursing skills really enhanced the quality of life for my parents. Typically kind and beyond considerate, she would bring my dad his favourite Costco cinnamon buns when she was on duty. She was truly an angel and for that my family and I are truly grateful. Blessings to the family, and know that Laurie was revered and adored by so many. Shannon MacFarlane - Posted by: Shannon MacFarlane () on: Sep 11, 2016

  • We wish we knew why this lovely ray of sunshine was taken from us too soon. There is repetition in all of these tributes: a warm and loving woman, who always gave from her heart. I am so sorry I am far away and not able to attend the service for Laurie. At the Paralympics, a theme is The Heart Beats as One... Les, Mike, Rob and Beth: your heart will forever continue to beat together as Family and eternally with Laurie. And in turn may you take comfort from the many hearts that beat with you as one, and share your sorrow. Our deepest sympathies from the Bergal Family. - Posted by: Trish Bergal (Friends) on: Sep 10, 2016
