KENNETH WAYNE TAYLOR It is with sadness we announce the passing of Kenneth Wayne Taylor (Wayne) on September 9, 2016 at the age of 77. He passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his father Percy Taylor, mother Catherine Downey Taylor (nee Walker), brother James (Jim) and his wife Lois, and brother Joseph. He is survived by his partner Elizabeth Jane Ursel and her son Mark Stevenson, daughters Terese and Audra, grandchildren Ella, Brooklynn, Darby, Keesik and Keestin, Linda Taylor, sister Jeanne, brother Allan, many nieces and nephews, and extended family including Cary Clark and Joseph Ouellette. Wayne had a rich and a full life, including a 43 year teaching career in Sociology at the University of Manitoba. Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, husband, friend, and colleague. The three passions in his life were his family, music and teaching. Along with his interests, he always could be counted on for an encompassing sense of humour. His irreverent attitude and joyful approach to life kept him in good stead and was a source of enjoyment and amusement to those who lived and worked with him. Wayne loved his family and was always thinking of them and attended every family event he was able to, including his grandchildren's special events such as sport or music. Music was a passion for Wayne for his entire life. He began playing in bands in university and continued playing multiple instruments and composing throughout his life. Teaching was Wayne's career but also a love. He dedicated much of his time to supporting and furthering the education of countless students throughout his tenure at the University of Manitoba. Sincere thanks to all the family and friends who have been so supportive and helpful. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Rue Des Meurons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Wayne was my graduate adviser. Just learned of his passing and am saddened. There is much to say but mostly, I would not be here today with a Masters in Sociology if it wasn't for Wayne. Thank you. I will always remember you. Sincerely Gary Watkins - Posted by: Gary R. Watkins (graduate U of M) on: May 06, 2017

Dear Jane, We have all been deeply affected by this sad news. We have wonderful memories of Wayne's band, "The Collective Agreement," playing in the Great Hall in UC, and of course, of the many years we spent making and sharing meals every spring at the Durrant-Olsen household. We will miss your gentle humour and your friendship. Brenda, Richard, and Ian - Posted by: Brenda Austin-Smith (Friend) on: Sep 25, 2016

Jane - I will always treasure my memories of playing jazz with Wayne in your living room, and making perogies with him in our kitchen. He was so encouraging to me and I learned a lot from him. I will miss him. - Posted by: Jonah Olsen (Friend) on: Sep 15, 2016
