JAMES R. LOCK September 8, 1936 - September 12, 2016 James Lock passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the age of 80. Jim is survived by his wife of 18 years, Rose; sons Randy (Karlee) and Cameron (Sandra); Rose's children Lesley (John) Truss, Michele (Wayne) Krowchuk and Terry (Glenn) Earl-Sparling, and many beloved grandchildren. Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Geraldine in 1996 after 37 years of marriage. Jim was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan and spent much of his young life in Ninette and The Pas, MB. His early career was as an X-Ray Technician and his most enduring work memories were his days doing mobile screening for TB and teaching new X-Ray Technicians at Red River College. He later moved on to Manitoba Health where he worked until his retirement in 1992. Jim loved camping and boating when the boys were young, with summers spent fishing and playing cribbage. As retirement neared, Jim and Gerry found new passions in their Otter Falls cottage and their Mesa, Arizona winter community. They made many close friends at their summer and winter homes. Gerry died far too early at age 60. Fortunately, Rose was one of the Arizona friends and over time became Jim's new love. Jim and Rose continued on with the snowbird lifestyle in Mesa and summers at Otter Falls. Jim is remembered by all for his gentle and generous nature. We wish to thank the caring and attentive staff at the Victoria Hospital where he spent much of this year, and Poseidon Personal Care Home where he spent the last few weeks of his life. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering is planned. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I was just updating my telephone directory and checked the Internet for Jim's name. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. I have many wonderful memories of Jim and his parents in the 1950s at Clearwater, and still remember he and I driving to the local garbage dump to practice our music - I won't say his playing was that bad, but mine was! We kept touch for many years, but it is now seven or eight years since we made contact. He was a true friend, as was Jerry and later Rose. My sincere condolences to the family.
