DONALD ANDREW FARYSEY
Born: Nov 10, 1949
Date of Passing: Sep 21, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD ANDREW FARYSEY November 10, 1949 -September 21, 2016 On Tuesday, September 20, Donald Andrew Farysey passed away at Riverview Health Centre at the young age of 66 with his family by his side. He will be forever missed and loved by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Adrienne and Jocelyn (Matt); his grandson Max and two beloved furry grandchildren, Mosa and Lexie. He will also be remembered by his brother Harvey and by his extended family Muriel, Will and Philip Goodman, Barbara, Paul and David Finnbogason, Cheryl and Martin Marquardt. Don graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce and spent most of his career in various departments with the Federal Government. Although work was important to him, his passion was spending time with his family. Although he never knew how to swim some of the best memories are of him in the water. He loved riding tires in the waves at the cottage, jumping in the pool and a lot of splashing around. He was always willing to help and was one of the most generous people we know (which is probably why his daughters preferred shopping trips with him!). He enjoyed travelling and explored much of the United States, Europe, Mexico, and in recent years many trips to visit his children in Ontario and Newfoundland. Another one of his pleasures in life was food. We hope you are finally enjoying a slice of pizza and a rye and coke; you earned it! We would like to thank the staff on the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre and at the Buhler Cancer Centre at Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion. At Don's request, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 930 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3G 0P8 or a charity of your choice. My sincere condolences to Don's family. In 1995-96 Don and I shared some projects while working on the Aboriginal Capital Corporations Program where he helped me get my footing. He had a 360 degree viewpoint - he could see the big picture that kept us on track. He was always available and wiling to chat. I greatly enjoyed our talks and the time we were able to spend together. Rest in peace Don. - Posted by: Ken Rowan (co-worker) on: Dec 14, 2020

Don and I often shared an office at the First Peoples Economic Growth Fund, and I had the privilege of working with him and hearing many interesting stories of his life and family. Don was a great team player, always willing to share his advice and listen well to input from others. Don was a hard worker, intent at his work but aware and attentive to the interests and needs of those around him. We enjoyed a number of lunches together as he took me to some of his favorite places, where he often told me stories of his family, particularly his daughters whom he loved to visit and on whose homes he worked. May God bless and keep you as you adjust to this passing of your dear Don. - Posted by: Daniel Lepp Friesen (Friend and Work Colleague) on: Sep 27, 2016

I worked with Don for ten years when we were with the federal government first at Aboriginal Business Canada and then for the Department of Northern and Indian Affairs. He was a very kind and generous man. Always helpful, and very caring. Don was a great team player and brought out the best in his younger co-workers. He was so very, tremendously proud of his two daughters and would keep me up to date as to their achievements and endeavours. He will be missed. I met Mr. Faryesy just a few times while he was visiting Adrienne in Nova Scotia. He was a very kind and friendly man. Adrienne is definitely an extension of her father's characteristics and traits. As he watches of over you, Adrienne and your family, there will forever be a light shinning down on you! It will be Don smiling with pride! - Posted by: Trevor Ferrish (Friend of Adrienne Faryesy) on: Sep 24, 2016
