Date of Passing: Sep 21, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ROSE DESILETS (nee MOSIONIER) Our mother, Mary Rose Desilets passed away September 21, 2016, with her family by her side, in Winnipeg, MB. She was 94. Mom is survived by her five children: Gerry (Mavis), Charles (Lynne), Dolaine (Jim), Harvey (Mei Lin), Lorraine (Erv), six grandchildren, (their spouses) and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by our dad, Jules Desilets, husband of 40 years; her parents, George and Elizabeth Moseney; two brothers, Raymond and John; and daughter-in-law Margo. Mom was born and raised in rural Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg at a young age and worked as a domestic. Later, she was a nurse's aide at the tuberculosis sanitarium and this is where she met her husband. While he worked up north on the DEW line, she lived on the farm in northern Manitoba. When they left the farm, Mom worked in food service, owning and operating a coffee shop. Her warm, lively personality endeared her to her customers and co-workers. This is where she learned to burn cinnamon toast; Mom's interest in good food and good humour helped her throughout her failing health. She entertained us to the last days of her life. With a clear mind, Mom made a "roll call" of all her children present on her last day. She also acknowledged many friends and relatives. She wanted to thank anyone she ever knew and ever met. Mom loved you all. A memorial mass was held today, September 24 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be at a later date. We, as a family, would like to thank the 5th floor care givers at Poseidon Care Centre. They gave excellent and compassionate care to our mother. I am going to miss her smile and they way she would always brighten right up when she would see her grandson Jamie. I am going to miss her a lot and feel so grateful to have known her. She always made me feel apart of the family. I love her laugh and the funny stories she would tell. - Posted by: Dixie Desilets (Granddaughter in law) on: Jan 27, 2017
