Born: Nov 08, 1926
Date of Passing: Sep 24, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) CHITZ November 8, 1926 - September 24, 2016 With great sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of William, aged 89, on September 24, 2016, with his loving wife at his side. He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of 66 years, Florence; children, Gail, Garry, Joyce and Donna; grandsons, Bill Hunter (Hazel) and Cory McLeod (Stefani); and great-grandson Zayne. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Anna; brother Alec; sisters, Sophie, Pearl and Lena. Bill was born in Red Jacket, Saskatchewan on November 8, 1926. His family then moved briefly to Rossburn before settling back in the Polson District. Bill met the love of his life, Florence Barchuk, and on September 2, 1950, they were married. They made a life in Inwood, Manitoba, where they built a loving home and farm, and raised their family. He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed the Saturday night Polka Party, old time fiddle music and dancing, and attending Dauphin Countryfest for many years. Also many camping stays at Norris Lake, a whole four miles from home - so he could still check his cattle and do his haying. He had a great love for all animals, big or small. He especially loved working with horses and the more spunk they had the better. He was a gracious host at many a house party and nobody was left without plenty of food or a drink in their hand. Bill and Florence were proud to have their farm become a Century farm in 2009. The family would like to thank all the staff of Goodwin Lodge for their wonderful care of Bill during the nearly six years he was there. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Bill's memory to St. Mary's Cemetery, in care of P.O. Box 130, Komarno, MB R0C 1R0 or Goodwin Lodge, P.O. Box 89, Teulon, MB R0C 3B0. The funeral will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Inwood Memorial Hall, Inwood, MB. My condolences to Aunty Florence and family. I always smile when I remember my first visit to the farm with Karen and Uncle Bill taking us to see his cows. It was neat how they all came out of the woods to meet him when he called them. I also remember him listening to polka music on the radio. - Posted by: Bill Brannen () on: Sep 28, 2016

HI, I am very sorry to hear of Uncle Bill passing. I have fond memories of times spent on the farm visiting. He always made everyone welcome. I have one memory of when I was about 16 or 17 years old, staying on the farm. He took a few of us out to show us how to milk the cows before breakfast. But of course did not tell us newbies that the milk on the kitchen table a half hour later was fresh..... I poured it one my cereal, took a big spoonful and nearly spit it out, The milk was warm and lumpy..... Everyone had a good laugh at my expense.... I am sorry I cannot be there, but please pass my condolences on to the family on behalf of Jeannete Mazanik's granddaughter Kim. - Posted by: Kim Mazanik (Grand Niece) on: Sep 27, 2016
