Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH MORGAN July 18, 1927 - September 24, 2016 Ken passed away peacefully on Saturday at Concordia Place in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his son Jim in February 2004 and siblings, Evelyn, Lu, Lorne, Don and Bob. He has left to mourn, wife Doreen; sister Mae; close family friend Shirley; son Grant (Karen) and grandchildren, Sherri (Cory) and Michael (Jenn). Ken loved kids and would light up any time he saw his great-grandchildren; Alexander, MacKenzie, Logan and Alyssa. Ken was born at Lake Helen, Saskatchewan and growing up in Stenen was part of a close-knit group of ten made up of his brothers, sisters and cousins. The cousins (the Simes children) lived on the family homestead farm, five miles from Stenen and were always happy to see the Morgans come to visit. A bachelor uncle who lived on the farm gave the boys driving lessons and taught them a lot about mechanics. He also had fun playing hockey and singing in the choir. The family later moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Ken then lived briefly in Calgary before moving to Winnipeg where he met the love of his life Doreen. They were married for 62 years. He spent much of his work life in the dry cleaning business managing a Perths depot and was later employed with Quintons. He retired in 1990 and enjoyed travelling with one of the highlights a trip to Florida. He also took a memorable journey with his family to Baton Rouge to visit his roots while he was still working. He loved watching sports like golf and especially the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. He spent many hours in his garage on Jubinville Bay refinishing furniture and working on carpentry projects of his own. The staff at Concordia Place all described Ken as a gentle and happy man who always had a big smile and we thank them for the care they provided. He will be missed by everyone his life touched. A small memorial service for family and close friends will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Monday, October 3, 2016. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society are welcome. Mr. Ken Morgan was an absolute sweet gentleman. He was always smiling and laughing. He used to sing "take me out to the ball game" or "It's a long way to tipperary". He will definitely be missed! - Posted by: Jeffrey (Nurse) on: Sep 29, 2016
