CECELIA BRODYK Suddenly, after a long illness, Cecelia Brodyk (nee Douglas) passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Cec will be greatly missed by her loving husband Gerry; brother Russ (Lise); sister Michelle (Shane); nieces, Megan (Mike), Natasha (Mat), Amy (Carl), Lauren; and nephew Lucas. She will also be missed by her stepchildren, Nancy (Gerald), and Steven, six step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, many special friends, and feline companion Sasi. Cec was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Irene Douglas, and grandparents, Percy and Winifred Douglas, Anne Myskiw and Sam Slota. Cec was born on November 29, 1955 and spent her childhood and adult years living in Elmwood and St. James. She also enjoyed countless weekends and many family gatherings at "The Lake". Cec worked at Manitoba Hydro for more than 35 years, starting at the Greater Winnipeg Gas Company, where she made many forever friends, and she enjoyed their friendship and good times immensely. Cec and Gerry met while working together at the Gas Company and they married in 1989. They had wonderful times together and enjoyed travelling to destinations including Jamaica, BC, Mexico and the East Coast. Cec was very elegant; she had a wonderful sense of style and was well known for her gorgeous gift wrapping and ribbons, thoughtful gifts, delicious meals, homemade salsa, as well as the occasional mischievous pranks on those she loved. You are forever in our hearts, Cec. We love you, and miss you already. Rest now, and enjoy your Rock N' Roll heaven. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

  • We lost a beautiful soul when Cec passed. May we take comfort knowing that her pain has ended. I have so many wonderful memories of my time with Cec. She was like my big sister, teaching me as we grew. Much of our family history I learned from her. We had a strong bond and I always felt a close connection with her. We shared many adventures over the years. I will always remember her crying and waving goodbye as we piled into the car for the drive back to Calgary. We grew closer every time we saw each other and saying goodbye got harder each time. Sorry for rambling ... thoughts are scattered between the past and present. I apologize for not being able to come for the funeral. But I am so, so thankful that I got to spend the afternoon with Cec and Gerry a few weeks ago. I will cherish my memories of my wonderful 'cuz'. Love you all. My thoughts are with you. Hugs. Anna - Posted by: Anna MacDowall (Cousin) on: Oct 02, 2016

  • Gerry all my thoughts are with you ... Cec was just such a special lady always there to help me when I had a question and always there to tell me when I was your partner in GDM to "take care of that old man of mine." Meaning you ... she will be missed .... - Posted by: Craig Sexton (Co worker) on: Oct 01, 2016
