BEVEN JOHN MOSCRIP 1958 - 2016 On September 23, 2016, with family by his side, Beven, 58, passed away at Victoria Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Beven was born in Gladstone, MB on August 25, 1958 to parents Walter and Jean (Bell) Moscrip. He was predeceased by his mom, infant brother, and brother Craig. Cherishing his memory are his dad, sister Lois (Doug) MacCallum, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Beven attended schools in Sioux Lookout, Kelwood, and Winnipeg, where he graduated from Murdoch MacKay Collegiate. From high school he went on to work for Via Rail where he retired in 2014. Beven loved life on the rails working for Via. He especially enjoyed meeting people who were travelling and built many lasting friendships. Beven was a kind, gentle giant whose heart was as big as he was tall. He had a calm demeanor which made everyone around feel comfortable. He was a person who never judged, and was a true friend. During the summer, Beven's passion was golf. He was always ready for a game no matter where or what time of day. He golfed many courses around Manitoba but especially loved golfing with his dad at the Gladstone Golf Course. Other hobbies included meeting friends at the casino, solving Sudoku puzzles, watching all kinds of sports, and he had an impressive movie collection. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one's choice. There will be a Memorial Service for Beven on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). • I had the pleasure of working with Bevin on the trains at Via Rail during the 80s. As soon as I saw his name on the manifest, I knew we would have a good trip. He was always pleasant with our clients on the train and always wanted to make sure they had great trips. If we needed extra help anywhere on the train, he was there and he always approached his work with a smile. He made us feel like a team and that made the work fun. He was a great guy and I have and will miss him. - Posted by: marc bergeron (friend) on: Oct 04, 2016
