GRAHAM EVANS On August 26, 2016, Carl Graham Evans sadly passed away at Dennistoun Residence Heritage House, where he lived, in Osborne Village. Graham loved his home and living in the Osborne Village area where he had many friends. He touched many people with his warmth, friendship, unselfishness and genuine interest in others. Graham worked at Integris Metals (Ryerson Canada) in Winnipeg, as happy with hard physical work as he was with his own quiet company. He was a yin and yang guy, he loved company but perhaps loved solitary reflection even more. He was a traveler at heart, and a real traveler - his epic journeys through Asia (sometimes lasting years) fed a need in him for different ways of thinking, ways that were more in tune with the Buddhist ideas he tuned into during the Sixties. Some of his friends named him, with the greatest affection, Hippy Graham. And so he was, delighting in friendship with the mice and squirrels who sometimes visited his home. He was a valued friend of staff and regulars at Carlos & Murphy's. He could talk with unpretentious insight about ideas, people, art, travel and the perils of mountain biking in Winnipeg, winter and in summer. A true individual, he was like no-one else. Graham will be deeply missed by the many people who were privileged to know and love him. A Celebration of Graham's life will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery) on Tuesday, October 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers or donations; stop by Carlos & Murphy's and raise a pint of dark in honour of Graham and his life. I first met Graham while tending bar many years ago, he was a man of the wold and always had a great story or insight that few others had. In the years since then I have bumped in to Graham from time to time and we always made time for a chat. Last year I ran into Graham when he was just about to take off on one of his long journeys to Southeast Asia. We sat down on a bench and spoke on travelling and life in general, as always Graham had some good advice. I am glad I had the opportunity to know Graham and I wish him all the best in any of his future reincarnations. - Posted by: Fredrik (Friend) on: Oct 02, 2016
