GORDON JOSEPH DIAKOW Peacefully, after a long illness, Gordon passed away on September 24, 2016, at Riverview Health Centre. At the time of his passing, Gordon was fulfilling one of his passions of watching the World Hockey on television, with his son Dale at his side. Gordon leaves to mourn his passing, his son Dale and grandson Ethan, from Winnipeg, his daughter Cheryl, from Victoria, BC, his sister Joyce Rust and niece Wendy Rust. Gordon will also be missed by his friends, (including the furry ones) at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Gordon touched the lives of many people. May his memory be kept alive in all those that he had the good fortune of knowing him. Gord was the greatest grandpa, was always supportive, and the calm in my son's life. He was also a very true friend never holding grudges or judging just laughing and loving unconditionally. Until his illness got the best of him he was always out at games or any events to support Ethan. We would often laugh and chat on the sidelines and he would almost always go up to the announcer and let them know if they said Diakow wrong. He was Ethan's #1 fan, always there for his grandson and our true friend we miss and love him so much and it was truly a blessing to have him in our lives, and I am so proud he was Ethan's PAPA.
