CATHERINE SUCHARYNA 1958 - 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Cathy on Sunday, October 2, 2016 peacefully at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Survived by her husband of 35 years, Jerry, daughters, Tanya and Tamara, and grandson Taylan. Cathy is also survived by brother Jamie (Brenlee) and nieces Talya and Jenna; brothers-in-law, John and Mike (Natalie), nephew Terry and niece Darlene. Also surviving is her dear cousin Mike (Debbie) Biggs and their children, Michelle and Dan. Cathy will be missed by numerous extended family, friends, and co-workers. Predeceased by her parents, Peter and Barbara Michalchan. Cathy was born in Victoria, BC into a R.C.A.F. family. After many postings, the family settled in Winnipeg. This is where she spent her formative years. Her ambition was to be like her mother, and become a dedicated nurse; graduating from the St. Boniface School for Practical Nurses in 1979. After her marriage to Jerry, they settled in the Garden City area where she practiced nursing at Seven Oaks General Hospital for nearly 20 years. Cathy and Jerry both agreed that children come first and so Cathy worked part time while raising their family. The joy of her life was her daughters and then her career. In recent years, her grandson Taylan became the apple of her eye! The plan for the future was to practice nursing one more year and then retire and enjoy travelling and adventures with Jerry. A service to celebrate Cathy's life will take place on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation - Cardiology. A special thank you to Dr. Edward Pascoe and the whole medical team who made it possible to have more time with our Cathy. Although she left us too soon, her optimism, love, and cheerfulness remains with us forever.
