KEITH LASHLEY June 9,1937 - September 28, 2016 It is with a profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Keith Lashley. Left to cherish his memory are sons Adrian and Karl, Daughter in law Monique and Granddaughter Kaedyn. Mrs. Amor Hunter her daughter Ann Marie and husband Will Daley and their children Halia and Hunter. Keith, the only son of Samuel Cuthbert Durant and Rosalind Lashley who was born on the Island of Barbados. After completing his education in England Keith came to Canada first in the role of a psychiatric nurse then later as a social worker in over 33 years of service with the Province of Manitoba. He cared deeply for his home of Barbados and never forgot where he came from .He was fortunate enough to still remain close with a small group of his early childhood friends .Keith was a loving and caring man often thinking of others before himself . Keith, who had many roles as an athlete, educator, a coach and a mentor .Keith was a committed member of the St. Peter's Anglican Church and enjoyed sitting as a board member with Maitland B. Steinkopf Residences. Keith will be remembered by his sons for many things like his high pitched sneezes, the need to play Calypso over the Christmas season, his strong belief in his ability to be able to personally "fix "anything in his home and trying to embarrass us in front of our friends with awful Dad jokes. We all love you and you will be missed. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the Canadian Diabetes Association. To all our friends and family thank you for your support over this difficult time. Adrian and Karl: I saw your dad a few years ago on my Christmas visit home. He was picking up Ann Marie's mom, cracking jokes and jovial as ever. That's probably my lasting memory of your dad over the decades -- laughing and smiling. My belated condolences to you and your family. - Posted by: Maria Suniga Slemko (Friend) on: Nov 22, 2016

Keith was always a fun and happy person to be around. His humour and laughter were infectious. He was a good dad to his sons, who will miss him terribly. We will miss not seeing him during visits to Winnipeg and regret not being there at this time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. REST IN PEACE OUR DEAR FRIEND. My condolences to his family, I knew Keith as a colleague and fellow board member, who was generous with his time and knowledge, he will be sorely missed but never forgotten. - Posted by: Ralph Harling () on: Oct 12, 2016

Keith was a friend of mine from the Brittins Hill Area. We both went to Combermere School in Barbados. Keith kept in touch with me by e-mail and would send a host of e-mails to me regularly. On his visits to Barbados , he would be sure to visit my home. My condolonces to his family. I will surely miss his e-mails. - Posted by: Clarence Greenidge (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2016

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Keith’s family. I know how proud he was of all his family but especially his granddaughter who he would talk about with such pride. I was lucky enough to share an office with Keith for 4 years when I first moved to Canada and once we had got over the language barrier I had so much fun working with Keith and his wonderful sense of humor. He then played on my husband’s bowling team and was all ready to start bowling again this fall. He will now be bowling for a different team. You will be deeply missed Jane and Jack Wells- Farrell, work colleague and bowling partner but most of all friend. - Posted by: Jane and Jack Wells-Farrell (friend / work colleague) on: Oct 11, 2016

IT IS WITH TRUE SADNESS THAT I READ OF THE PASSING OF A KIND AND CARING MAN. I FIRST MET KEITH IN 1997 WHEN I STARTETD MY FIRST JOB WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND FAMILY SERVICES AT 189 EVANSON ST. I WAS NEW AND YOUNG. KEITH MADE ME FEEL WELCOME AND ALWAYS HAD A SMILE, JOKE OR WORD OF ADVICE FOR ME. WITH MY FAMILY ORIGINATING FROM TRINIDAD I THINK KEITH FELT A CARIBBEAN CONNECTION. HE OFTEN SPOKE OF HIS FAMILY, CHILDREN AND HOME LAND WITH MUCH PRIDE. HE WAS A POSITIVE PERSON AND MADE SURE HIS COWORKERS AND CLIENTS WERE TREATED IN A POSITIVE MANNER. KEITH TIHS WORLD HAS LOST A "ONE OF A KIND" AND FOR THAT WE MOURN. - Posted by: DIANNE BELL (WORK FRIEND) on: Oct 11, 2016

On my family's behalf, I extend our condolences to Keith's family at this time of loss. We have had the pleasure of knowing Keith for many years. Having met him when I was still a student, I later worked with him in the provincial government. As a citizen of both Canada and Barbados, I can say I was always and am still proud that Keith was also a citizen of both. Rest in peace Keith. We will miss your sense of humour and good nature. - Posted by: Antoinette Zloty (Former colleague and friend) on: Oct 06, 2016

Met Keith in 1968, both my wife Anne and I had worked alongside him for a number of years. He was the type of man who it was very easy to be friends with, he always had a smile and a kind word. A decent fellow who will be missed by many, especially in the human services field . - Posted by: Colin and Anne Whitehurst (co-workers andfriends) on: Oct 06, 2016
