Ralph Ogilvie Robertson, B.A., M.D., (FRCS) Canada & United Kingdom January 12, 1927 - October 4, 2016 Lovingly remembered, Ralph Ogilvie Robertson passed away peacefully at Selkirk General Hospital on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, with his family by his side. Ralph was born in Selkirk, Manitoba, the eldest of five children, to John and Agnes (Nan) Robertson. He is survived by his wife Edna (nee MacLean) of 57 years from Reading, England, daughter Elizabeth and partner Percy, son Ian and wife Pamela, grandchildren Jennifer, Jordan, Maclean, Victoria, and Tabitha, sisters Suzanne Greer (Larry) and Diane Fiebelkorn (the late Leonard), brothers Jack (Evelyn) and Doug (Tony), and 14 nieces and nephews. For nearly 20 years, he played the organ at his beloved church, Knox Presbyterian, followed by 6 years at St. Clements Anglican Church. Ralph attended Queen's University, first receiving his Arts degree, then later, his degree in medicine. He completed his post-graduate training at Oxford, England. Ralph started his private practice in Selkirk in 1961 and was one of the founders of the Selkirk Medical Clinic. He loved medicine and was a dedicated physician for many years. Following his retirement from private practice, he worked for Manitoba Health for a number of years. Edna was at Ralph's side for 57 years, supporting his career and raising their family. During the last years of his life, her unwavering love and dedication to Ralph's wellbeing was unparalleled. The family thanks all those who have been involved in the compassionate care provided in his last few years, including friends, neighbours, the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital, and the staff with Manitoba Home Care. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I had the privilege to be one of Dr. Robertson's home care attendants for a period of time. Many an interesting conversation would arise about medicine during my many home visits. I learnt many things from this man during this time. A classy man in every way! We would joke about him never remembering my name, I would then respond, well, Dr..... I will always remember your middle name!! Rest in peace Dr. Robertson, you will be missed, but never forgotten. Condolences to Edna and family - Posted by: Selkirk HCA/E.B. () on: Oct 06, 2016
