HELEN ANN DZIOBA (nee STRIMBISKI) October 11, 1932 - September 30, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Ann Dzioba, at her residence on September 30, 2016 at the age of 83 years. Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 57 years Walter; her sons, Harold, Michael (Kristy) and Mark; grandchildren, Craig, Thomas, Mikey and Jennie. Two sisters, Sonia (Alvin) Hickey of Kamloops, BC and Margaret Morisette of Vancouver as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents Joseph (1981) and Anne (1963) Strimbiski, and four sisters, Elizabeth (1965), Ruth (1977), Joyce (1990) and Mona (2005). Mom was born in Caliento, Manitoba on October 11, 1932. She went to Kupchenko East School and then Shevchenko High School in Vita. She stayed on the farm until 1952 when she came to Winnipeg and worked at Monarchware, Mitchell Merchandising, Weedman Brothers and Acklands. Mom and Dad were married on October 17, 1958 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Vita, Manitoba. She continued working until 1966 when she left the work force to raise her children. Mom enjoyed travelling, as we spent many summer vacations visiting various places. Mom supported her boys in hockey and soccer and was always there to cheer us on. Some of her favorite hobbies were garage sales and collecting antiques. Mom was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly. A special thanks to Dr. Pat Harris and staff at Concordia Hospital. Also we would like to thank the home and palliative staff for taking care of mom at home. As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
