Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUDITH ALVINA MADER August 18, 1944 - October 3, 2016 Peacefully on October 3, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, our darling mother and mama passed away following a massive stroke. Mom was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Mary Kozak, love of her life Bob Turriff, heart of her heart son Bobby Turriff, and cherished brother Leonard Kozak. Left to mourn her loss are her daughter Sheri Asham, son-in-law Kerry, adored grandchildren Holly, Bobby and Daniel, sisters Jeri LaRiviere and Jane Gollmer (Raymond). She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mom was born and raised in Transcona where she met and married Dad. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and the reason she would rise each morning. There was no event in their lives that was not attended by mama with great pride. She never said "I don't have time" and was actively involved in the lives of her family and friends. Mom made everyone in her life feel special and important. She was a woman of quick intelligence, perception, kindness, and unending energy. She was interested in everything, loved to read, and never stopped learning. She had an amazing memory and never forgot anything. Mom was very proud to have served for 30 years with the Winnipeg Ambulance Service where she was a mentor and inspiration for females in the service. Judy was one of the first female EMS providers in Manitoba. Mom had tremendous love and respect for all her co-workers throughout the years and considered them to be an extension of her family. Mom was never happier or relaxed than the times she spent in Malaque, Mexico with adored friends from around the world. She loved the warm beaches, hot sand, and lovely people. Her personality, love for life, spirit and kindness will be forever impressed in the hearts of all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will follow on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Siloam Mission or Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. "Mom, it was you and me living life together for as long as I can remember. Please rest peacefully knowing your light was always shining to guide me through" - Your loving daughter Sheri For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.

Judy & I go back to the very beginning of the Winnipeg Ambulance Service. She started on the cars but later went to dispatch. She truly was one of the first female EMS providers in the province. I had the privilege of working with a second female EMS provider, Louse Stitt who later became the first true paramedic in the province, Judy & I always had such good conversations when I would go & visit her in dispatch. She was a kind & thoughtful person. We had such interesting spiritual talks. Losing a loved one in death is one of the most difficult things to experience. But the Bible gives hope. Your mom is know sleeping & waiting for the resurrection. John 5:28,29 promises that. I hope you & your family will take comfort in this. One day we can all see her smiling face again. My condolences to all the family who miss her dearly. - Posted by: Lloyd Wally (Friend & co-worker) on: Oct 26, 2016

Judy was our dispatcher on Pltn.4 and a great one at that, no matter how crazy it got for us on the street, Judy was able to keep us on track so we can get the job done. My wife Melodie still remembers when Judy would call her to tell her I would be late because we were out on a call, or back logged at the hospital. Our thoughts and prayers to Judy's family. - Posted by: Marty Nienhuis (past co-worker) on: Oct 22, 2016

Judy was a fantastic person to work with. Whenever I heard Judy's voice on the dispatch radio I knew she had our back and I looked forward to our many phone conversations. Judy was one of the first women in EMS and that speaks volumes to her strength of character and compassion for others. My condolences to Sheri and the family. - Posted by: Jim McKendry (past co-worker) on: Oct 11, 2016

One of our favorite family members since she was a kid. She always came over up until the last few years and was absent from our lives. We love you Judy and sad that you left us. - Posted by: Patricia Mitchell (Cousin) on: Oct 10, 2016

We're so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. She was such a good neighbour to Mom and Dad when she lived on Whittier. I always felt better knowing she was close by when we lived out of town. She will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Lorraine Phenix (Sosiak) (Friend) on: Oct 10, 2016

I started work at Winnipeg Ambulance Service on Judy's shift. During our careers there our time as partners totalled several years. We were friends and confidants as we worked long shifts together in a small office with very few breaks. She was a very smart person with great instincts and a great sense of humor even after many dark chapters in her younger years. Although we didn't see one another after she retired I've thought of her often and regret that we never got together as we promised in our exchange of Xmas cards. My deepest condolences to Sheri, family and the grandkids Judy loved so much. Rod Giese - Posted by: Rod Giese (past co-worker/partner) on: Oct 08, 2016
