DOUGLAS JOHN VALEN February 28, 1960 - October 5, 2016 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Doug. Doug is survived by his loving wife Lene, of 11 years, daughter Tiana (Allan) and their daughter Lily, sons Tyler (Danna) and their sons Dylan and Tyson, Daniel, Colin and his son Brantley, Sean (Jessica), father Peter Valen Sr. (Lucy), brothers Gordon (Edna), Murray (Norma), Brian (Yvonne), and sister Gloria (Adam), and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends along with numerous horses and granddogs. He was predeceased by his mother Myrtle. Doug was born in Stonewall, and moved to the farm in Teulon with his family in 1965. He was a hardworking man, and a very kind hearted person, always around to help those in need. He had a quick wit, and an infectious laugh, always the jokester. He loved spending time with his family, and with his "extended" family of cows, horses and various other animals. He enjoyed many entertaining chats over coffee and made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed his leather craft in his "Doug house" in the barn, roping and horseback riding. He touched so many lives. A memorial service will be held in his honour Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's name to the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg to whom he was eternally grateful for saving the life his granddaughter Lily. Now you can ride with Huck and Patch down the dusty trail. MacKenzie Funeral Home Teulon 204-467-2525 info@mackenziefh.com

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I have known Doug for the past four years. Never have I known a more hard working man. His laughter filled a room. His quick wit always delighted. He has been taken away from us far too early. My memories of Doug will last forever. He was a kind and giving soul. Rest In Peace dear man. Love from The Kid. - Posted by: Susan silvestri (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2016

  • My condolences to the Valen family. Doug was my stepfather for half my life. I've never met a more hardworking and caring person in my entire life. He always gave 110% from start to finish with whatever task he was given. Although I hadn't seen or spoken to Doug in over 7 years, I regret that he didn't get a chance to meet my 4 year old son. He would have loved him and been so proud. Doug, you treated me like your own from day one and for that I truly thank you. May you rest in peace and enjoy the big ranch in the sky. - Posted by: Kevin (Friend) on: Oct 10, 2016

  • Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard but always near, still loved still missed and very dear.
