LARRY MICHAEL KULCHYSKI On Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at his home of 46 years, in Winnipeg, MB, aged 65 years, suddenly passed away. Larry was predeceased by his mother Jessie Kulchyski (nee Piatkowski); brother Edward Kulchyski and grandparents, Mike and Dora Piatkowski. Larry is survived by aunts, Carole Moss (Peter Sr.), Mary Rybak; uncle Dr. Edward Rybak (Jean); cousins, Patty Barnabe (Roger), children: Michelle Fidler, Jeannine Pistawka; Peter J. Moss (Beverley), children: Ryan, Jason, Ashlea; Michal Rybak (Adrianna), children: Matthew, Stephen; Mark D. Smorong (Peggy), children: Daemien, Alisia, Chelsey, Kasie. Larry was born in the Shoal Lake, MB Hospital on October 21, 1950. He was raised on the family farm in Elphinstone, MB, where he called home until June of 1970, when he left for Winnipeg, MB to live with his (predeceased) uncle Frank D. Smorong (Auntie Dorothy-Marie) to work and live in Winnipeg, MB. Larry was employed with Greyhound Canada Transportation ULC for 41 years (1973 to 2015), retiring in May, 2015, all the while Larry concurrently ran the family farm commuting regularly until the time of his passing. Larry was a loving, generous and kind man. Larry always seemed to give one the impression he always had time for you, could strike up a conversation with anyone that met him, and was easy to laugh, maintaining a grin no matter what the world threw at him. He loved to be with his family and friends, travelling, hunting, skiing, trying his luck at horse racing and 6/49, reading and being current with today's news. His main love however was undoubtedly his family, always making sure everyone was doing alright, lending a hand or ear whenever needed, and there for you any time of day. Larry will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing all the love, kindness, and generosity he has passed on to all of his family and friends will live forever in our hearts. To important not to mention, Larry was lovingly also known as Big Bird or the Sheriff of Elphinstone to many of us, and has left a pair of cowboy boots that will just be too big for anyone else to fill. Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. and held at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0M8, with interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 1W3. In lieu of flowers, Larry's wish would be donations to your charity of choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.

  • Larry (Bird) we will all miss you. I enjoyed our conversations when we worked together at Greyhound in the late 1980's. Larry was one of the indivduals that convinced me to move to Alberta in 1992. He was confident that Alberta was better place for a young man to start his career. He was right! Larry thank you for your advise you changed my life. Dennis - Posted by: Dennis Michalchuk (Cousin) on: Oct 17, 2016

  • I will really miss Larry. I have never met anyone more giving of his time than Larry. You never felt like you were rushed talking with him. The most relaxed & kind guy you could ever meet. There are truly few like him. I never recall that smile leaving his face or the glint in his eyes ever not being there. He always seemed so darn content!! :) I always looked forward to seeing him when I visited his cousin Mark. Would sit for hours talking and joking about just about anything. I will greatly miss him but he will always remain in my memory as one of the kindest & friendliest people I've ever met. - Posted by: Sean Ceaser (Friend) on: Oct 16, 2016
