PAUL BURLAK It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family and friends of Paul Burlak announce his passing on October 8, 2016. Paul found out he had an advanced level of cancer just days before he passed away. Predeceased by his parents and one sister, he leaves behind his wife Holly; children, Stephanie and Dani; his brother and two sisters. Paul grew up in the north end of Winnipeg. He excelled at football and was proud of his Bomber tryout. Paul's professional career was in the financial services industry, working at credit unions, Equifax, FNBC and Telpay. His engaging personality made him many friends and colleagues. But it was music that became Paul's true passion. He played many instruments starting with drums and the latest being the bass guitar. He played countless weddings, banquets and legions. In 1994, Paul joined "The Celebration Band" playing bass and singing lead vocals. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten by his band mates and closest friends, Ron, Brian and Ken. The "Brotherhood of Musicians" is where he found that some of your true best friends in life are the ones you rehearse and perform with through the years. He will also be remembered by the many people he entertained over the years who enjoyed his music, singing and sense of humour. Although Paul never had any biological children of his own, he proudly became a father to two children, Stephanie and Dani. Throughout the years, Paul travelled various provinces and states to attend many sporting events in which the two kids played. Paul shared many great memories of the two children he could call his own. Paul and Holly were inseparable, sharing many common loves including golf, music, road trips and tons of laughter. Family and close friends are invited to a celebration of life in Paul's honour. The celebration of life will take place at the West Kildonan Legion, 1748 Main St. on Saturday October 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. Those who wish can make a donation in Paul's name can do so to The Canadian Cancer Society. We love you Paul. You will remain in our hearts and memories forever. Rock on. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Uncle Paul, I have so many questions on why God took you so young as do many people. You were a very kind and funny guy, I remember your laugh would fill the room with smiles. I remember your wedding when I was little, you let all of us kids play around in you sports car with the car phone. We thought we were the coolest kids. You were always the funny uncle with a funny story. Anytime an Elvis Presley song came on I would tell whoever I was with that my uncle Paul can do Elvis Presley songs to a tee. When the time did come, I wanted your band to play at our wedding and to have our slow song to an Elvis song. Miss you Uncle. Jeff - Posted by: Jeff block (Nephew) on: Oct 22, 2016

  • I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Paul a couple of years ago at a Hydro golf tournament. We (Darren, Pat, and myself) were paired up with him (and Holly) and had the best time of our lives. It was a weekend jammed full of laughter. When the smoke cleared we were presented with the championship trophy. We had so much fun that we agreed to do it again this past June. I'll cherish those memories (as we all will) forever. - Posted by: Andy Larson (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2016

  • Paul was more like the big brother I always wanted growing up, his advise and helpfulness with never be forgotten. I didn't get the chance to say thank you for everything uncle but I will thank you once we meet again. Thank you for always making time to see me, I will miss our laughs and our conversations. You were more than an uncle to me...you were my brother, I will miss you more than you know. - Posted by: Kelly Nolte (Nephew) on: Oct 15, 2016
