WAYNE ALEXANDER ISFELD November 1, 1948 October 10, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne, beloved husband, father and grandfather, after an almost seven-year courageous battle with cancer. Patricia, his loving wife of 42 years, was at his side. His daughters Erin (Justin), Jamie (Thurston), granddaughters Everleigh and Alexandria, along with "adopted sons" Daniel, Matt, and Robert live to cherish his memory. Wayne was born in Gimli to parents Trausti and Noreen (both deceased), and was a little brother to Verna (deceased). He grew up and lived on his family's farm, delivering newspapers on horseback as a young boy. He graduated from Kjarna School and Gimli High School and later attended Red River Community College where he studied Civil Engineering. In his life, Wayne worked a variety of jobs. He was a land surveyor for Water Control, a mechanic at Firman's Garage and Rathwell Service, and owned his own business Rhinoceros Motorcycle and Small Engine Repairs. He was a mechanic at Saunders Aircraft, and later flew on Cansos to deliver supplies to northern Manitoba. Together with friends, he built houses, restaurants, and the Grand Rapids Lodge. Wayne built his home on the family farm from the ground up: cutting down trees, milling the lumber, digging the basement, designing and building everything, to make it just as he wanted. Wayne later became a house dad, looking after his two girls and raising them while Pat continued with her career. He made sure that he taught his daughters how to think outside the box, how to work to achieve their goals, and "there's always a different way to get what you want." He was extremely proud of them. His next career move was to the Sandy Hook Golf Course as their mechanic. He loved the friends he made there and greatly enjoyed the time he spent with them. Wayne's passions were his family, anything mechanical, carpentry, hunting, camping, fishing, and blues music. Most recently, Wayne loved traveling with Pat around the world. Wayne took extreme pride in any task he undertook, never settling for "good enough." He was passionate and creative in everything he did, and was a jack of all trades and master of most. He worked every day of his life, and he was always willing to help out a friend. He was a brilliant conversationalist;armed with his quick wit and a bit of charm, he could talk to anyone about anything. Wayne leaves this world a better place, and will be greeted by many friends and family on the other side. A special thank you to Velma for driving Wayne for his treatments and Tamara for looking after the pets. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care he received on his seven year journey Dr. Czaykowski, Dr. Gordon, Dr. S.V. Patel, Dr. Chapnick and Dr. Saper. Special thanks to CancerCare nurses Julie and Tanis, along with the nurses of the Gimli Community Health Centre, for their professionalism and compassion. Wayne's service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Gimli, Manitoba on October 17 at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Justin Reynolds, Daniel Steele, Thurston Hillman, Barry Woytowich, Robert Mackay, and James Fehr. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Gimli Cancer Treatment Room, Gimli Community Health Centre, PO Box 250, Gimli, MB, R0C 1B0. • Even as a kid Wayne had a great mechanical knowledge. We were having outboard motor troubles at the Lake-across from Frosty and Noreen's farm. A company expert had been sent out from Winnipeg to fix the recurring problem but after 3 hours he gave up. In the midst of this Wayne came over to see what was up. He sniffed the gas tank and shook his head. The expert mechanic shooed both of us away. Later Wayne told my Dad "There's water in the gas, that stuff doesn't burn well." Sure enough he was right. Wayne taught me a lot about the dangers of the Lake. He was always cautious around it on stormy days when I was itching to get out on the water. We lost contact over the years but I know he will be missed. That was some house he built!! - Posted by: Allan Tucker (friend) on: Oct 15, 2016
