IRENE MARIE DEGAGNE October 16, 1926 - October 14, 2016 On the morning of October 14, our dear Mom passed peacefully at Foyer Notre Dame, with family by her bed side. Mom will be greatly loved and missed by her children, Linda, Karen (Tim) and Raymond; as well as granddaughters, Nicole and Meghan; sister Rita; and brother Roland. She was predeceased by sons, Colin (Carol) and Donnie, brother Rene and sister Rose. Mom grew up in Fannystelle, raised her family in Elm Creek, and later in life lived with Otto Kliewer for several happy years. She later lived in Ste. Anne, Fort Francis and Winnipeg. Mom lived for nine of the last 10 years with son Raymond, where she thoroughly enjoyed gardening, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, word search, and had a fine collection of music boxes, spoons, and angels that she was so proud of. Mom loved people and made several friends at Zeller's restaurant in Winnipeg every "Momday". Known as Gramma, she was a loving person, always hugging and caring for everyone, especially her little dog, Chi Chi Man, whom she adored. We wish to thank the Foyer staff for their exceptional and loving care of Mom for the last 14 months. Mom, we will miss you so much and love you always. And remember, when you get to heaven, let us know and just let it ring once. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foyer Notre Dame, Notre Dame de Lourdes. Funeral services to be held at Doyle's Funeral Home, Carman, Manitoba, on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Burial to be at a later date. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to all of the Fifi and DeGagne Family. I remember in my early years going with mom (Irene Hill) for visits to the little in Fannystelle and then later to Elm Creek. Having yummy home made donuts and cookies as treats. Mom always cherished their friendship and I am sure shared many girlfriend secrets. I will always remember your mom's distinctive laugh and sparkly eyes. It was a a total surprise when we snuck your mom in for my mom's 80th Birthday. They are together again and catching up on the years missed. - Posted by: Holly Picard (Hill) (Daughter of a friend from Fannystelle) on: Oct 21, 2016

  • So sorry to hear about Irene's passing. I have so many fond childhood memories spent in Irene's home in Fannystelle playing with Linda and Colin. I remember Irene as a loving, caring, and easy-going lady. I also enjoyed the stories she would relate when she and my Mom would chat over a cup of tea. Lastly, an unplanned encounter I had with Irene a few years ago engulfed me with joy. We did see each other a few times after that meeting. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Ron Morissette (Former neighbour) on: Oct 19, 2016
