Fern also loved gardening, watching the birds in her yard and brushing Pokey the cat on her lap before bed. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the Grace Hospice for their care and compassion. Fern's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB.

My father, Darwin Dahl, (deceased) worked with Fern at CN for many, many years. He always spoke very highly of Fern and her ability to manage their workloads so efficiently. He would have been very saddened to learn of her passing. I was also mentored by Fern on a school/work program for a few weeks at CN. I am still in awe at her ability to type so fast and accurately on the old Underwood manual typewriters (I believe she continued to use one even when electronic typewriters were making their way into the workforce). I think of her often in my own career. I appreciated her guidance and wisdom. - Posted by: Lorri Dahl (daughter of former co-worker) on: Oct 19, 2016
