BARBARA J. PALZ, CPA July 11, 1958 - October 14, 2016 Barbara Palz died peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the age of 58 after a year-long battle with cancer, which she fought courageously and stubbornly. Predeceased by her mother, Brenda Palz, and her Uncle Dr. Ross Taylor, she will be lovingly remembered and terribly missed by her son David, father Bernie, two sisters, Susan (Garth) and Sharon, as well as her Uncle, Frank Palz, Aunts Margaret Palz and Linda Taylor and cousins Craig (Lori), Kendall (Roger), Andrea, Tanis (Jubal) David (Kim) and their children. Barbara grew up in East Kildonan. She was a high achiever academically, a natural in sports, and a good role model for her two younger sisters. It was in elementary school that she met two very dear and life-long friends Shawn and Kim, whose friendship spans decades. During her years at Miles Macdonell Collegiate, they welcomed several other close friends along the way. To this day, the "theatre girls" continue to be there for one another through all of life's ups and downs. Throughout her working career Barb made more friends including her dearest friend, Cathy, (who was like a sister to her) and a very special friend Jan. She will be missed deeply by many. Barb realized a life-long desire when she gave birth to her son, David. From that point on he was her sole focus. Once he started school, she re-entered the workforce and in 2010 she achieved her designation as a Certified General Accountant, achieving another life-long goal. Barb was a very private person, an avid TV sports fan (particularly of the Toronto Raptors), very talented at pettit point, cross stitch and knitting and she was a 'Jeopardy junkie'! She was intelligent and compassionate; always willing to give freely of her time or ample knowledge to help where needed. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Gordon King Memorial United Church, 127 Cobourg Avenue. The family would like to express its deep appreciation to Drs Nader and Pollock and staff of Cancer Treatment Centers of America (Tulsa, OK); Dr. Maksymiuk, staff at CancerCare Manitoba as well as nurses of GA4 of HCS for their wonderful care. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations can be made to CancerCare, MB or to Gordon King Memorial United Church. Barb's qualities rubbed off on everyone she was close with and made them better people. She will remain always in our hearts. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

I remember Barb from the days spent at the Palz house on Linden and then Greene (?). It was while playing a ridiculous amount of crib and drinking copious amounts of tea until late in the evening or early morning with Sharon, that I would often encounter Barb. We too spent hours listening to records..."I just wanna be your teddy-bear" is still one of my favourite and brings great memories. I was sad to hear of Barb's passing. My thought and prayers to all the family and friends. May your warm memories help you to find peace with her passing. - Posted by: Susan Neuendorff (Miller) (Friend) on: Oct 20, 2016

To Barb's family. Although I was the same age as Susan and we were good friends back in the days of John Henderson Hr. High School and MMC. I also knew the whole Palz family. Susan, I remember we would sing and dance in your basement to Barb's records and I recall never seeing so many bags of OLD DUTCH potato chips in my whole life other than on store shelves. Gosh we had fun. I enjoyed my relationship with the Palz family. Time has gone by, and now to know of this sad news of Barb's passing makes me want to give you Susan, Sharon and Cathy, Kim and Shawn a hug and say I am sorry for Barb's suffering and your's as well. Condolences to Mr. Palz and to Barb's son David as well as the entire Palz family from me and my family, the Mcwhinney's. ♥ - Posted by: Jill Palmer nee McWhinney (Friend from school) on: Oct 18, 2016
