MARTHA OSADCHUK October 14, 1932 - October 15, 2016 It is with great sadness the family of Martha Osadchuk (nee Smuk) announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Bethesda Place in Steinbach, MB. Martha is survived by her son Larry (Pat), four grandchildren: Leslie, Monica (Cory), Kirsten, Scott, and two great-grandchildren: Rowan and Arlynn. She was predeceased by her husband Paul Osadchuk on March 24, 2010, sister Livian, and parents John and Mary Smuk as well as numerous aunts and uncles. Martha was born on October 14, 1932 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm in Sarto, MB, helping her parents in her early years with the farm chores. As time passed she met my Dad, Paul Osadchuk and the two of them were married on January 16, 1954. Mom continued to help on the farm for a few more years while dad worked in Winnipeg, driving back as often as he could. Mom eventually moved to Winnipeg when they bought their house. She worked at Ray O Vac for a few years and then at James B. Carter until she eventually became a fulltime homemaker. Upon dad's retirement in 1990, they moved back to Sarto, Manitoba, where they enjoyed the fresh air, gardening, and certainly mom's huge flower garden. Family and friends were important to her and she enjoyed getting together and socializing with them. She was always willing to help a friend or neighbor whenever she could. She loved her family very much and was always glad to see them, in particular her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Martha spent the last few years at Bethesda Place in Steinbach where she lived till her recent passing. The immediate family would like to thank the staff at Bethesda Place for their care and compassion during those years. Prayers will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB on. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sarto, MB with interment at the parish cemetery.
