KATHERINE TERECK
Born: Oct 21, 1921
Date of Passing: Oct 24, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE (KAY) TERECK (LAZARENKO) October 21, 1921 - October 24, 2016 Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Kay passed away on October 24, 2016 at Holy Family Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her sister Anne, and brothers Tom, Mike, and Nick. Left to cherish her memory are her children Dan (Linda), Karen (Randy Koroscil), and Gord (Susan), her eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Nellie, and Elsie, two brothers, John, and Harry, and many extended family and friends. Kay grew up on a farm near Arborg, Manitoba, and moved to Winnipeg in her early 20s, where she worked at the Paris Restaurant. It was there that she met her soulmate Bill, and they were married in 1948. They moved into their new house on Kildarroch Street in the North End, where they resided together for 58 years, until Bill's passing in 2006. Within two years, Kay sold the house and moved to an apartment at the Holy Family Towers on Aberdeen Avenue, where she lived independently until July of this year, when she was placed into the Holy Family Personal Care Home. Kay was a vibrant and active person. She loved to dance, and went to various Senior dances until her early 90s. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed bowling, participating in leagues for more than 60 years, until she was 92 years old! Mom was also very much about family. She would never let a special occasion pass without having a family get-together - usually a big meal at their house. That was when she was in her glory. Mom (Baba) was a loving wife, dedicated homemaker, and great mother to her three children - caring for them when they were ill, waiting up for them when they were out late, supporting them in their activities - she was always there. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Holy Family for their support, care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay's memory may be made to Holy Family Personal Care Home through the Lubov Foundation, 204-942-0443. www.lubovfoundation.ca Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

Dear family, our deepest sympathies go out to all of you. We all grew up together next door on Kildarroch and have so many great memories. Your mom always had a great smile and open arms. She will be dearly missed. May she always be an angel by your side. Thinking of you, from Luba, Anna, Irene and Roman and our families. - Posted by: Semaniuk family (Friends and neighbours) on: Oct 26, 2016

Good Morning and my condolences to all of Aunty Kay's family and friends. When I heard that auntie was not doing well and then left us Monday morning I have been reflecting on her life and her and Uncle Bill's impact on my life while growing up. I remember the family dinners, Christmas Eve celebrations at their house, my having sleepovers to play with my cousin Gord. I recall Aunty Kay and her sisters bustling about in the kitchen, preparing dinner and laughing. Uncle Bill and Auntie's interaction with each other and how very evident their love and caring for each other were. The short time (seemingly) I spent in her company had a positive impact on me and in some ways shaped who I am today. She was a tiny lady who, when she strode through life, pushed a wave that reached far and touched many. Although, life happened for all of us and there never seemed to be enough "time" to get together, there are memories that I will close always. Thanks Aunty and rest well with Uncle Bill. - Posted by: Randy Lazarenko () on: Oct 26, 2016

Our deepest condolences to the Tereck family. Aunty Kay was an awesome Aunt always. She always made time to see us when we travelled from Calgary to Winnipeg. We loved her stories and knowledge of the old days. She was an inspiration to us and gave great advice. Aunty had great wisdom and was always full of energy. We love her and will always hold her memory in our hearts. We will truly miss our dear Aunt. Sincerely Doug, Vivian and Christopher McCallum - Posted by: Doug, Vivian and Christopher McCallum (Niece) on: Oct 25, 2016
