Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAGMAR REDEKOP (nee SCHROEDER) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dagmar Redekop at the age of 92 years on October 25, 2016. Mom was born in Russia on May 18, 1924. The family immigrated to Manitoba, Canada in 1926 when Mom was a year and a half old. They started out on a farm in rural Manitoba and made numerous moves before finally settling in North Kildonan. Mom was baptized into the Mennonite faith at the age of 19. Mom practised a simple faith which sustained her through life's many joys and challenges. Through church, Mom met and married John J. Redekop on October 9, 1943, the love of her life. Together they raised five children, sons, John (Ana), Karl (Rosella), Henry, daughters, Louise (Miriam) and Susan (Lawrence). Mom had a heart for service and took a leadership role in numerous church and community endeavors. She was instrumental in the formation of North Kildonan's first PTA. For many years she chaired the Bethania Lady's Auxiliary and she was eventually hired as the first co-ordinator of volunteers. Together, Mom and Dad served as youth sponsors for their church for many years. She particularly enjoyed being the make-up artist for the numerous plays staged by the youth. Most of all, Mom's life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing for her family. She had a great sense of humour and was often directly involved in family shenanigans. Mom was predeceased by her husband John in 1981. She leaves to mourn her passing, five children and spouses, eight grandchildren and spouses, sixteen great grandchildren and spouses and one great-great-grandson as well as siblings, John (Heidi) Schroeder and Hildegard Knopf and extended family. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul. The family thanks Dr. Loepp and the dedicated staff at Bethania for their care and compassion during Mom's final years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2K 3S7.

For some reason I thought of Dagmar today. For many years in the '90s I went to her for reflexology. I enjoyed her so much. She called me twinkle toes and she was a character. I moved to B.C. In 2001 so lost track of her. I do not know why I am thinking of her so strongly today but thought I’d share the impact and connection I had with her. - Posted by: Edith Enns (Friend) on: Jul 24, 2019

I remember your dear mother very fondly. My first memory of her is when she hosted a church "girls club" in her home. After that, there many more pleasant encounters with your strong, warm mother! I wish you beautiful memories, strength, and peace, - Posted by: Hilde Neustaedter (Friend) on: Oct 26, 2016
