Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN POPOWICH (nee HRABLIUK) (June 28, 1923 - October 23, 2016) It is with deep sadness we wish to announce the passing of Kathleen (Kay) Popowich on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Kay will be remembered fondly by her sons, Robert and Gerry (Madeline) and her grandchildren, Matt and Steven. Kay is also survived by her brothers, Paul (Rosanna) and Matt (Fran) and sisters, Hilda, Verna and Vicky. Kay was predeceased by her parents, Efrem and Maria; husband John who passed away in 1975; brothers, Sam and Ted and sisters, Helen, Anne and Nellie. Kay was born and raised on a farm near Venlaw, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg in her early years where she met her husband John. Family was the focus of Mom's life. She looked forward to family gatherings and was very proud of her family's accomplishments. Kay loved to share stories with her grandsons on how her life was growing up on a farm and the "olden days". Kay lived on her own for 40 years. She was strong-willed and independent until the end. Kay enjoyed the friendships she made while residing at Lindenwood Manor. She enjoyed playing cards, her exercise classes and recently started using the treadmill at the Manor. We will always remember her kind, sweet and loving demeanor and her soft smile. In keeping with Kay's wishes a private family service has taken place. A sincere thank you to everyone involved in her wonderful care at the Health Sciences Centre "Step Down Unit". We would also like to thank our family, friends, and co-workers for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
