YVETTE COURNOYER (nee TOUGAS) Born October 25, 1927 in St. Anne, Manitoba, daughter of the late Rose and Leo Tougas, Yvette Cournoyer passed away, after a short illness, a day short of her 89th birthday. She was predeceased by husband Joseph, daughters Nicole and Ginette and Edouard's wife Patti. She is survived by her children Rachel, Armand (Janice), Roland (Cheryl), Rose, and Edouard; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; siblings Jeanette, Leon, Louis (Jocelyne), Marie, Irma, and Rachel (Andre). Mom loved to have fun, family gatherings, traveling, and listening to and singing along with music. No stranger to hard work, Mom was always happy to be able to help with the family budget, at first working for Eaton's part time, then later for many years with the fish processing plant in Transcona. Mom had many talents, she was an exceptional seamstress, loved decorating and maintaining home and refinishing furniture including three pianos. Mom was vibrant, witty, and always up for a good time. She will be remembered for many things including her excellent tourtière, her sucre à crème and her laugh. The family would like to thank the workers at Chez Nous, staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Desjardins for their care and compassion. Yvette's Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street, with burial to take place in the afternoon in the Lorette Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My fondest memories as a child was spending hours with Rose...and never do I remember hearing matante Yvette raise her voice at us, or telling us we were in her way, or get outside....that was oncle Joe! 😉 I never feared tante Yvette. From picking raspberries to playing the piano, she would always encourage us to do our best. For a while she was my second mom. She was a beautiful and strong woman, and many of her gentle and quiet ways can be found in her children. You are a beautiful family. I pray you continue to find peace, unity and joy individually and as a family, as you share your memories of your Mom. luv you all, cuz. - Posted by: Monique (Niece) on: Oct 29, 2016
